Abstract

The paper discussed the use of information relay as an improvisational space, and what happens when the process of retransmitting a narrative involves the reshaping of the communication of facts and knowledge. Artists have amalgamated and enhanced imagery from popular mediums such as mainstream cinema to justify works of art that critique the idea of popular activity or mass culture. This paper will propose that another direction, the ‘stripping’ of the aesthetic veneer of popular mediums, offers a distinct perspective now that these activities are no longer considered merely an alternative to a higher culture.
