Abstract

On 1 January 2007 Bulgaria and Romania became members of the European Union. This paper focuses on an analysis of coverage of already existing EU migration and the two new member states over several months during 2006, the year before accession on the three main terrestrial television news programmes. This chapter relates it to issues related to Euroscepticism as well as other factors connected to domestic politics, in particular the politics of migration, as well as the symbolic politics of boundary formation on an EU-level.
