Abstract
Michael Klinger was the most successful independent producer working in the British film industry during the 1960s and 1970s. However, there has been no critical account of his work and he is barely mentioned, if at all, in standard histories of British cinema. This paper outlined his career and its significance, the role of the producer and the Michael Klinger archive - the repository of materials held in SCA – and the AHRC-funded project to catalogue and interpret them. This is original work, based on new primary sources, which sheds much light on a neglected period of the British film industry.
