Abstract

An examination of how thinking on European Spatial Policy has impacted on England, the chapter seeks to examine this process of translation from the European to the national to the local level. It does this through a case study of Plymouth. The chapter seeks to illustrate how, despite a similar rhetoric, actual developments at national and local levels frequently differ from the more general European level discourse on spatial policy and reflect national and local concerns.
