Abstract

This article offers an overview of qualitative and quantitative approaches to borrowing (the incorporation of features of one language into another). The focus is on the integration of borrowed words into recipient languages, and on sociolinguistic, phonetic and pragmatic aspects of borrowing is offered, and a wide range of examples from different language pairs are given.
