John R. Cook
Introduction
Cook, John R.; Spicer, Andrew H.
Abstract
This was a themed issue of the Journal and the first to focus on the issue of screenwriting/the screenwriter. This was path-breaking in relation to British cinema where this topic has hardly begun to be addressed. The issue, that included academics, journalists and practitioners, ranged over a broad historical period (from 1910 to the present) and a range of modes (scholarly essays, polemics, interviews, advice about practice, autobiographical accounts). It has encouraged the development of a serious attention to screenwriting and to the formation of an international network and a new journal.
