AbstractThis book is a collection of writings on Life History Research. My text is a chapter about the positioning of minorities in textbooks, and the unintentional exclusion of ‘the ethnic other,’ using data drawn from my research into textbooks in England. This chapter provides a different dimension to traditional life history research, and explores learning journies and positioning of insider-outsider research, and the significance of representation of people in secondary school History textbooks in England to young people and their teachers.
