Abstract

So this is it. After nearly 10 years as editor I am hanging up my red pen and emptying my email box. (I know its 10 years as I measure against my youngest duaghter who had recently celebrated her birthday and was a breastfeeding baby when i started; in fact she had chicken pox when I should have been at the Ropyal college of midwives conference for the journal 'launch'!). if you were at this year's RCM event a few weeks ago you will have heard this news already- and maybe had a peice of cake. Anyway, the rest of the team have given me permission , in this Comment to enjoy a bit of self-indulgence and to spend time reflecting on the past as well as the way forward.
