Abstract
The aim of this research is to provide an approach or solution to the challenge of modelling and analysing the provision of through-life-costing for an engineering service. The challenges of estimating the costs of engineering service are explained, identifying the gaps
in knowledge and challenges industry is facing. A flow diagram of different phases of the PhD research is presented and a proposed approach for a service cost estimating model is identified. This is illustrated and placed in context via an industrial case study. The
challenges of data gathering and up to date research findings are summarised.
