Creators:Dickinson, R.
Abstract:This project extended the research for Who, What, Where, When, Why and How and further explored the tropes of political speeches and press briefings; focusing on the way in which similar declarations have been used by numerous governments - across continents and spanning the ideological divide - to declare and maintain states of crisis and emergency. The project was staged (by invitation) as a Live Performance on 28 August 2010 at Stara Elektrarna (The Old Power Station) Ljubljana, Slovenia as part of the International theatre and live art festival festival Mladi levi The production was commissioned and funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the City of Ljubljana (9000 euros) and was performed again at The Showroom, London (publicly funded gallery), London on 14th January 2011 as part of a 4 day event, Signal:Noise, investigating feedback in contemporary culture. Other Contributors include Charlie Gere (Lancaster Universtity), Matthew Fuller (Goldsmiths) and Richard Hornsey (UWE). The project has subsequently been exhibited internationally as a 3 channel video installation at; Aksioma Institute For Contemporary Arts Project Space (solo show) Ljubljana, Slovenia, 8 - 30 September 2011; National Museum for Yugoslav History ‘Oktober Salon’ Belgrade, Serbia from 20 October 2011.
