A 12 minute film, with sound, which offers a "new reading" of the York Street vaults in Bath UK - a space within the Roman baths complex which is outside of the tourist zone. The film is the consequence of a lighting installation which aimed to reveal the vaults in discreet fragments, challenging received notions of heritage and authenticity, and suggesting that the vaults have an aesthetic value of their own.
This film was the result of a collaboration between David Littlefield of UWE and Dr Ken Wilder of University of the Arts London (Chelsea College of Art & Design). The project was part of an artists residency at the Roman baths, Bath. The film was made with the assistance of Steve Brown (camera) and Andrew Peters (sound) of UWE. The film has been shown at a public event at the Roman baths (Heritage Open Days, September 2012), and is due to be shown at the symposium "Film as Measure" at Chelsea College of Art & Design in February 2013.The creators of the film are now looking to show the film more widely.
