Interprofessional research: A complex process.

Abstract
Research into interprofessional issues i n health and social care, in the UK and elsewhere, is located within a context in which successful interprofessional collaboration is viewed as a sine qua non of effective service delivery. Over the last two decades, the plethora of interprofessional research has gradually resulted in widespread recognition that it is a fundamentally complex process. Factors influencing interprofessional research include wider social and political agendas, professional and occupational perspectives and priorities, and personal and individual issues. This presentation discusses how these can both help and hinder researchers to conduct robust studies which add to the knowledge-base about interprofessional collaboration and education.
