Abstract

This peer-reviewed international journal paper arose from a research collaboration which formed part of the PhD of a colleague and builds on previous conferences works [proceedings of "Adaptative Computing in Design and Manufacturing" 2002, 2005, proceedings of IEEE congress on Evolutionary Computation 2005]. These publications led to UWE's participation in a successful EU FP6 STREP proposal in which this work is being further developed by UWE and exploited by industrial partners.
