The paper details a novel experimental approach to utilising the BZ reaction to compute the shortest collision free path through a number of obstacles. Natural excitation wave dynamics are harnessed in order to simulate and partially solve the computation in parallel - finally by coupling to a reaction diffusion inspired CA model the shortest path can be computed. This hybrid chemical/software based approach utilising a wave based computing architecture is highly novel. The article was published in a general science journal showing that the field of chemical computing is a subject relevant and of interest to a wide cross-section of scientific researchers.
