A comparison of genetic algorithms and evolutionary programming in conceptual software design.
Proceedings of the Seventh International Conference of Adaptive Computing in Design and Manufacture., 67 - 72
- Published Version
The conference paper reports on initial attempts to transfer the stochastic search, exploration and exploitation techniques widely used in engineering design to an object-oriented conceptual design search space as the basis of conceptual design tool support for the software engineer. Evolutionary search approaches inspired by both genetic algorithms and evolutionary programming are investigated. EP inspired operators are found to produce a wider variety of conceptual design solution variants.
