Abstract

This paper describes a disposable biosensor and a paramagnetic detection system which has the following significant advantages over competitor systems: (a) single step process (one shot biosensor) (b) inexpensive instrumentation (c) rapid result (d) compact. The work has been the basis of invited talks at national DTI meetings under the MNT initiative and also an invited tour of Institutions and companies in New Jersey, USA to explore collaboration opportunities. The importance of the technique has been recognised by the investment in a KTP (DTI) to develop a pre-production prototype by a large diagnostics company [Aiden Walsh, Randox Laboratories, Crumlin].
