Additional Information:This work (undertaken with DTI Eureka project funding), enables accurate and objective evaluation of rock angularity, in contrast to the previous inaccurate and subjective approach of manual inspection. The techniques described have been incorporated into a system for real-time aggregate analysis that is being marketed worldwide. The system resulted in a patent application, and was described by the DTI as a �pioneering optoelectronic instrument' and one that could reduce the environmental impact of quarrying.
