|Additional Information:||Details new philosophy in applied computer vision, termed object-centred machine vision'. The work was the first to show how photometric stereo could be used to solve real, conventionally difficult data acquisition and industrial inspection problems. Two successful EPSRC funded research projects (GR/S11572/01 and CASE 00312759), and an EU CRAFT award (G1ST-CT-2002-50271) directly followed from this work. EPSRC assessed as 'Excellent value for money, excellent output, well executed and followed up'.?Also led to the successful Ministry of Defence (B1607) (Competition of Ideas) proposal Stealthy Object Detection and Recognition; premised on this earlier work.|
