|Additional Information:||This paper was based on a research project, funded by WS Atkins, to investigate whether the resolution of the grid-data set and the characteristics of the terrain being modeled have an effect on the accuracy of any derived data. The research was conducted as part of the Virtual Design Enterprise Centre (VDEC) (http://www.videc.org.uk/). Mahdjoubi was the Director of VDEC and Heesom was a research collaborator of the Centre.
