Series of twenty paintings, oil on canvas, sizes ranging from 100 x 100cm to 220 x 220cm exhibited as a touring installation of work during 2004-2005.
Evolved through a period of practice-led research into the concept of creative spaces during an invited residency at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, Ideal Studio explores the desire to find the perfect space in which to work creatively. Furthering the key concerns of his practice, O'Kane's suite of paintings address issues of idealism, creativity and the quotidian as understood through places of inspiration and enchantment.
Funded by galleries in Eire, Denmark, Germany and England, works from the series were included in catalogues with essays by Caoimhin Macgiolla Leith, 'Trans Atlantic', and 'Neue Malerei Museum Frieder Burda. Erwerbungen 2002 bis 2005' .
