Additional Information Additional Information : The Milgram Re-enactment is a reconstruction of Stanley Milgram's Obedience to Authority' psychology experiment of 1961. It was commissioned by the Scottish Arts Council and The Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) in Glasgow for a solo show in 2002. The piece aimed to stimulate a discourse around ideas of obedience and conformity in contemporary society, and around the construction and presentation of historical events. Subsequently it has been installed in venues in Europe and Australia, including ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), Melbourne, Australia in May 2004; The Science Museum, London as part of Pain', 12 February 20 June 2004; and in Berlin at the Sparwasser HQ, as part of the curated show 'A Complete Guide to rewriting your history' in September 200. The installation was also shown at Witte de With, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, 27 Jan 27 Mar 2005; Kunstencentrum, Kortrijk, Belgium April 13th - April 16th, 2005; The Museum Dr. Guislain, Gent, Belgium, 8 October 2005 30 April 2006; and was selected by Tom Corby for 'A Retrospective of British Media Art', Dresden Kunsthaus, Germany, 10 November 19 November 2006. The piece was shown again in Germany as part of History Will Repeat Itself, Strategies of re-enactment in contemporary (media) art and performance' at HMKV PHOENIX Halle Dortmund, 9 June - 23 September 2007, and at Kunst-Werke Insititute for Contemporay Art, Berlin, 17 November 2007 - 13 January 2008. A monograph on the artwork Essays on Rod Dickinson's Re-enactment of Stanley Milgram's Obedience to Authority experiment editor Steve Rushton, with essays by Vivienne Gaskin, Tom McCarthy was published by Revolver (Frankfurt) and The Jan Van Eyck Academy (The Netherlands) in 2004.
