| Additional Information: | The journal issue in which this article appears was edited by Robin Wood, whose editorial describes Glitre's work as ��academic� � in the best sense, � it transcends in its intelligence and sense of personal commitment what today we tend to think of as �academia�'(p. 1). The article has since been reprinted as an exemplary reading in the US textbook, The Craft of Argument: with Readings (eds Joseph M. Williams et al, 2003, Longman, pp. 536-43, ISBN 0-321-02691-8). The work developed from Glitre's PhD research (supported by an AHRC 3 year studentship, 1997-2001) and a conference paper given at Reading University (�Isn't it romantic?: Embracing space in screwball comedy�, Style and Meaning, 17-19 March 2000). |
