Abstract

This chapter represents a specific tranche of research examining, through empirical methodologies, the ways news production and consumption have changed in the era of Net with heightened opportunities for self-determined, bottom-up production. This empirical research was supported by a £3000 research grant from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. The research was conducted jointly with Royston Martin from the Reuters Foundation/UWA. Jones was the principal author and Martin was jointly involved in establishing the project and the collection of data.
