Abstract:This output comprises a six-minute short film 'practice as research output' which extends Crofts published research on Angela Carter's feminist reappropriation of Red Riding Hood in the short story (1979), radio (1980) and film adaptations (1984) of 'The Company of Wolves' and their reception by feminist critics and scholars (see Crofts 1999, 2003), with a contextualising article reflecting on this piece as an example of film practice as research, 'Bluebell, Short Film and Feminist Film Practice as Research: Strategies for Dissemination and Peer Review', Journal of Media Practice (2007), 8:1, pp 7-24 (http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/journalarticles.php?issn=14682753&v=8&i=1&d=10.1386/jmpr.8.1.7_1 DOI: 10.1386/jmpr.8.1.7_1). The DVD was acquired by the library of the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS); a Digital Betacam master acquired by BFI Archive (http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/824394); cited on Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0940665/); and collected in ScreenWork a peer-reviewed DVD of academic screen media practice research published in association with Journal of Media Practice (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/drama/staff_research/screenwork/crofts.html). Two 'contextualising' DVD versions are provided: (i) the Screenwork collection, and (ii) the DVD provided for UTS, Sydney, which provides further research context. The film has been screened at numerous international film festivals in the UK, Ireland, Italy and the US and papers presented at international conferences in the UK, Portugal and Canada, leading to invited research seminars at presentation at the Peer Review and Dissemination Journal of Media Practice Symposium, Salford June 2006 and the Centre for Media Research Seminar, University of Ulster, November 2006 and visiting lecture at University College Plymouth, Saint Mark and Saint John (Oct 2007).
