Abstract

This research was designed to provide a picture of the support available for journalists living in exile in Europe. It examines the help and opportunities on offer in eleven countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the UK. It drew upon information provided by exiled journalists based in these countries. The report was published to coincide with a conference, funded by the Open Society Foundation and held at Bristol University, to launch the Exiled Journalists' Network, an independent body formed to provide advice, support and training for journalists who have fled persecution for collecting and disseminating facts and opinions in the public interest.
