How to add your thesis to the UWE Research Repository

In order to add your thesis to the UWE Research Repository, please follow the instructions below:

• Go to eprints.uwe.ac.uk and login using your UWE login.
• Click on New Item.
• Work through the deposit process (Deposit Agreement, Item Type, Upload, Details, Keywords, Deposit):
• Under 'Item Type' select 'thesis'.
• In the 'Upload screen', add the full text of your thesis in PDF form. You can convert to PDF/A using the Save As facility in Word 2007: Save As > PDF > Options > ISO 190005-1 compliant (PDF/A).
• In the 'Details' screen please complete the starred fields and as many other fields as possible.
• When you have entered the required data, go to the Deposit section and click on Deposit Item Now.
• To pause the process, click on Save for Later. The record will remain in your Work Area and be accessible via Manage Deposits.

What is the EThOS project, and why is it relevant?

EThOS is a project set up by the British Library to offer a single point of access where researchers worldwide can access all theses produced by UK Higher Education. It digitises theses from various institutions, and provides the requesting researcher with access to these theses. UWE are working with the British Library to ensure that theses added to the UWE Research Repository are also available via EThOS.

Adding your thesis to the UWE Research Repository will also help to ensure its long-term digital preservation. Additionally, it allows us to showcase the work being done by postgraduate researchers at UWE.

What file format should I upload my thesis in?

Please upload your thesis in PDF form.

You can convert to PDF/A using the 'Save As...' facility in Word 2007:

'Save As > PDF > Options > ISO 190005-1 compliant (PDF/A)'

Does my thesis have to be uploaded as a single file?

No, multiple files can be associated with one thesis.
